Efficacy
Churches often have layers of drag intermingled throughout great ministries. Because church systems are built incrementally over time and very often emotionally (and dare we say, politically?), it can be difficult for those in the middle of the forest to see the ineffective trees creating spiritual and operational drag.
From my experience in both leading and coaching dozens of churches through this process, I help pastors and their executive teams identify issues that prevent the church from maximizing its ministry, mission and vision. It may be as complex as competing visions or as simple as not having a good reporting structure within the team. Every church can improve, but not every church knows WHAT to improve or HOW to improve it. That is where God has equipped me.
Alignment
Every business leader as well as every pastor knows alignment helps their organization operate at a maximum level. The challenge is to identify where there is misalignment AND how to lead realignment without disrupting the fragility of relationships that bind the church body together.
Having led multiple churches through a process to create alignment between vision, ministry, personnel, funding, measurements, celebration, ad infinitum, I rejoice when a church finds that rhythm that frees up operational capacity and thus time.
Alignment is one of the most important features to a strong, healthy team.
Generosity
Jesus said, “where your treasure is, your heart is.” Yet at least 50% of those regularly attending evangelical churches in America (at least monthly) give NOTHING (less then 500.00) to the ministry of the church. That means 50% of those the pastor to whom the pastor is speaking simply cannot be engaged because their hearts are not there, according to Jesus’ stated truth. The pastor is literally preaching to people whose spiritual heart has no connection to his message.
The answer is not to beat the sheep, condemn the brethren or whip out another snortin’ rendition of Malachi 3. The answer is to capture their hearts through biblical truth and spiritual wisdom. By implementing core Biblical principles combined with discernment of the culture and DNA of a church, we will build a strategic plan to engage hearts for Kingdom outcome.
